Fix a TikTok link or download that is not working
Most failures are caused by a non-public or removed post, an unsupported URL, a temporary TikTok challenge, no eligible source, or a file over the website limit.
Step by step
Confirm the post
Open it normally and make sure it is public and still available.
Copy a supported URL
Use the full video/photo URL or a supported TikTok short link.
Read the exact error
Retry temporary errors later; use the extension only when the website reports its 500 MiB proxy limit.
Match the failure to its likely cause
An unsupported-link message means the address is not a recognized TikTok video, photo, or supported short link. A public-access failure usually means the post is private, removed, login-only, age-restricted, paid, or temporarily unavailable.
A TikTok challenge is normally temporary. A no-source result means CopyTT could not verify an eligible file for that post. A size-limit message is different: the website cannot proxy a file over 500 MiB, so the supported extension path is the appropriate next step.
- URL problem: copy the full post link again from TikTok Share or the address bar.
- Access problem: confirm the same post opens publicly without relying on a private session.
- Temporary challenge: wait and retry the unchanged public link later.
- No eligible source: do not substitute an unrelated or unverified file.
- Interrupted save: inspect the browser Downloads panel and available storage.

Retry without exposing account data
Retry only with the public post URL. CopyTT support does not need your password, TikTok cookie, access token, private link, page source, or a copy of the media file to explain a website error.
If the post works in a signed-in TikTok tab but not in the website downloader, the public-link request may not have the same access. The extension can work with supported media already loaded in the current tab, but it does not create new access or transfer your credentials to CopyTT.
What to check
- Do not submit passwords, cookies, tokens, page source, or private links.
- Check the browser Downloads list for an interrupted or blocked save.
Common questions
Why does TikTok challenge the request?
TikTok may temporarily restrict anonymous page requests. Wait and retry the same public post later.
Why does a post open in TikTok but fail in the website downloader?
Your TikTok tab may be signed in or have access the anonymous public-link request does not have. The website only handles media it can verify through its supported public flow.
When should I use the browser extension after an error?
Use it for supported media already loaded in the current TikTok tab or when the website explicitly reports its 500 MiB proxy limit. It is not a bypass for private or restricted content.
