CopyTT website vs browser extension
The website securely streams eligible files, including files larger than 100 MiB. The extension is faster for supported media already loaded in your current TikTok tab and does not consume the website proxy budget.
Step by step
Use the website for a copied link
It works without installation and handles public video and photo posts.
Use the extension for repeated work
Its button stays close to supported media on TikTok pages.
Keep the same access boundary
Neither method unlocks private, unavailable, paid, age-restricted, or DRM media.

Choose the method that matches the task
The website is the simplest choice for an occasional copied public link and requires no installation. It can analyze supported video and Photo Mode posts, then stream an eligible file through the web download flow.
The extension is designed for repeated work on supported TikTok pages because its control stays close to media already loaded in the current tab. The current 0.4.0 build targets Chrome 120 or later and remains a release candidate until a verified official store link is published.
- Occasional public link: use the website.
- Repeated downloads while browsing TikTok: use the extension.
- Website file over 500 MiB: use the supported extension path.
- Private, paid, unavailable, age-restricted, LIVE, or DRM media: neither method unlocks it.
How the data path differs
The website sends the submitted public post URL to the CopyTT service for analysis and streams eligible media to the browser. Short-lived request and download state is described in the Privacy Policy.
A normal extension download is prepared from supported media in the current TikTok tab and handed to the browser. CopyTT does not receive the media file, complete page or media URL, creator name, post description, or download history during that path.
What to check
- The extension is still a Chrome release candidate, not an official store release.
- Do not install copies from unrelated sites.
Common questions
Does the extension use the website API?
Normal extension downloads are prepared in the TikTok tab and handed to the browser, not sent through the CopyTT website parser.
Which method should I use for a file over 500 MiB?
Use the extension when the website explicitly reports that the file exceeds its 500 MiB proxy limit and the media is supported in your current TikTok tab.
Is the extension more permissive than the website?
No. The data path and workflow differ, but neither method grants rights, unlocks restricted content, or bypasses TikTok access controls.
